fashion idol no. 6: janis joplin
So today I was dowtnown for six hours, from 9:30 to 3:30 and three of those hours was by myself.
Eventually I met up with Katelyn and Nicola and we exchanged Christmas presents. I got Katie "Girl, Interrupted" by Susan Kaysan (the book) and I got Nicola Santana's Abraxas and Steve Stills, Al Kooper and Mike Bloomfield's Super Session.
Katie got me a gift certificate to my favorite store downtown, the Turntable in Fan Tan Alley (below) a great record store.
Nicola got me a mint "Surrealistic Pillow" by Jefferson Airplane LP. I've listened to it, very very good.
That's my Christmas-comes-early story.

yay on the gifts, and yay on janis joplin for #6
I am curious. With your interest in the Airplane, have you ever tried some of the other bands that don't usually get mentioned by people waxing nostalgic over the sixties: Moby Grape? Vanilla Fudge? The Frost? Melanie? Procul Harum? etc?
