five albums on heaviest rotation as of may/07
1. Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & the Holding Company - I actually prefer Janis Joplin with Big Brother as opposed to solo and this is unarguably Big Brother's best album. Sort of the epitome of acid rock. Fun fact! They recorded it in the studio, but added audience noises because the group was so sloppy, the producer (edit: Nicola, of course, is right...It's Paul!) Paul Rothchild (also the Doors producer) thought listeners m ight excuse mistakes if they thought it was recorded live.
Favorite song: "I Need A Man"
2. We're Only In It For the Money by the Mothers of Invention - Frank Zappa has the most bizarre, twisted sense of humour, so this album certainly isn't for anyone. It's a satire of the hippie movement and very witty. Sort of the epitome of freak rock.
Favorite Song: "Are You Hung Up?"/"Who Needs the Peace Corps?"
3. The Best of the Jackson 5 - I love Michael Jackson and his voice and stage persona when he was with the Jackson 5, not even a teenager, is astounding! Of course we all know the sad story of his father's abuse, but listening to the Jackson 5 just makes you feel good inside.
Favorite Song: Definitely "The Love You Save"...and the whole Jermaine part
4. Voyage by David Crosby - It's a three-disc set, and I mainly listen to discs 1 and 3. So I can listen to CSN, CSNY, CN, and Byrds classics, though mostly I'm a fan of CSN, and C is my favorite. There's also a great booklet.
Favorite Song: "Almost Cut My Hair" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
5. 1999 by Prince - I know it's sort of the classic, but I only got into it recently. It's very very dance-y and dirty, and has a lot of hilarious lyrics. "I'm not saying it just to be nasty, I sincerely want to fuck the taste out of your mouth"
Favorite Song: Right now, "Let's Pretend We're Married", but I've also been listening to "Lady Cab Driver", "DMSR" and "Little Red Corvette" a lot

SUCH good mucis choices. I love CSN, and all those guys individually. I think I played Jackson 5 WAY too much in high school and I can't really listen to it anymore. But it's awesome.
ps-SEINFELD is a good TV choice! They were all so quirky. You'd make a great Seinfeld character.
also, is nicola ever going to post again?
please make her
The Jackson five are a LEGEND. Michael was one talented little black boy (I'm not racist) and his brothers were the perfect package of soul and pop, all rolled up into one fly afro.
Molly baby, I apologize for my hiatus. I will never leave your side again. Love ya bunches...
Besos para siempre...
