pretty mess
I've been tagged by the lovely Iron Chic at http://theironchic.blogspot.com/ to reveal six things I carry inside my ridiculously messy purse. I have an, um, interesting philosophy about purses: they shouldn't contain the bare neccessities to get you through your day. They should entertain you. If I'm bored, waiting for a bus somewhere, I should be able to amuse myself with the contents of my purse.
This purse is like a child to me. Well, an adopted child. We don't have a strong family-style bond, but more like a "Since you've come into my life, I'd be briefly devastated if I lost you, but could probably replace you in little-to-no time" style bond.
So nothing like an adopted child at all. I got it at Old Navy, but I like to pretend it's vintage or something.
1. The most important thing I carry in my purse? Not my wallet, cell phone (of which I have none) or iPod....
....my Parliament-Funkadelic booklet. I got this with a Parliament CD and have been carrying it in my purse ever since. If Funk is my religion, this is my Bible. I study it on the bus or whenever I have a spare moment of time. It contains...
inspirational pictures but most importantly...
the Funkencyclo-P-Dia! If I find myself wondering such deeply existential questions like "What is the relationship between Sir Nose D'voidoffunk and Rumpofsteelskin?" or "What prehistoric species did StarChild descend from?", I don't sit back and wait for the answer to come to me...I simply look it up. I've learned more useful things from these two pages than I have in 11 years of Math!
2. My iPod, in its fancy case, is lovely. Some people find theirs invaluable, I don't. The iPod is probably my least favorite method of listening to music, but it always makes those bus rides feel a little shorter.
3. My, um, Lip Smackers in Pink Lemonade and my Strawberry Shortcake lip chaps. Yeah I'm real high class. (I loove the scents)
4. Pictures of a few of my favorite celebrities. This is part entertainment and part inspiration. I've got a couple pictures (of Mick Jagger and of the Arctic Monkeys) cut out of magazines, and a few (of Marianne Faithfull, Ashley Olsen, Anita Pallenberg, etc.) printed off the computer.
5. The setlist from the Prince concert in London. I knew I needed a setlist but I didn't want to be bothered with writing one myself at the show, so I recruited my sister, who was sitting beside me. Whenever he started playing a song, I'd tell her the name and she'd write it down. I probably shouldn't carry something so valuable to me in my purse, but I can't help it.
6. Dental floss. Because I'm orally hygenic!

Your bag is like a little inspiration book! And the floss is really funny--but smart.
Oooh you have some great things in your purse. I love the PFunk booklet. They performed at my college freshmen year and it was one amazing concert. And the floss, I am right there with you, I am obsessed with floss.
Your bag is so inspirational, Molly ! Mine is just dull :p

I'm not a big fan of Prince's new songs but I would sit through them to hear "U Got the Look."
I think everyone needs a little Funkclyclo-p-dia!
Awesome bag! The pattern is so great.

i'm just curious :-)
Thanks again for nominating me as most informative blog! I'm honoured my dear!
HILARIOUS! HILARIOUS! THE Funkencyclo-P-Dia!
This line had me roaring: "I've learned more useful things from these two pages than I have in 11 years of Math!"
How rediculously cool of you. My handbag is full of gum and bits of paper, receipts, my phone, keys, loose cange and a notebook just in case I bumo into a celebrity and need an autograph.
It's a pleasure!
That's fashion!
I think I need to add some amusing things to my bag. I think I am going to do this post.
