you rocked my world, you know you did

In general, I don't like to say something is the "best". After all, everything's relative. But there are some cases where it absolutely cannot be denied that something is the best. And that is true with these songs:

Best Disney Song:

Yes I'm a fan of "A Very Merry Unbirthday To You" and "Why Is the Red Man Red?", but "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from The Little Mermaid really takes the cake. Dramatic, as well as funny ("I'm not asking much, just a token, really, a trifle!") I wasn't previously aware that the Jonas Brothers (the little one is sexy) covered it, but apparently they did? For the purpose of blogger-ism, I listened to their version. Unfortunately, it was absolutely abhorrant so I stopped watching about 40 seconds into it, which gave me enough time to scope out Nick and his great hair.

Best pop song

This might seem less-than-obvious to some, but I'm here to inform you that the greatest pop song ever created is by (who else?) Michael Jackson, entitled "You Rock My World". Some might argue "Billie Jean" but I'd have to disagree. If MJ had released this song not looking the way he does, it would've been a smash. The video features Marlon Brando, and has fantastic dancing. It also makes absolutely no sense, but we've come to expect that from dear Michael. If you want to skip all the random Mafia-related subplot and get straight to the dancing, that's about seven minutes in. You can see the edited video with just the song straight-up here, probably a better option if you're not all about really nonsensical curiousities, and not in a trippy Alice in Wonderland way. There's no doubt in my mind that, despite his public persona, Michael Jackson consistantly makes great music.

Best song ever

Some people might say, how could you possibly choose a greatest song of all time? The answer: I didn't choose anything. This song is the greatest song of all time. It is from a time before music videos, luckily I managed to find it over clips from a movie I completely adore The Departed. You're welcome.

There is more "bests" in this world and I guarantee you I will find them. Over and out.

This is funny because I just had to do a class presentation on the politics of Michael Jackson's Black or White video...

The Little Mermaid has to be my favorite! Honestly, I watched that so many times as a child, I know all the words by heart!

Best Disney movie: Lion King (1), undoubtedly.

I love the Little Mermaid. But my favorite Disney song is "Colors of the Wind" from Pocahontas.

Ugh, anything from the litte mermaid should be on a best list. I love the eff out of that movie.

P.S. - I completely agree about Ty-Ty's quote on last night's episode. Is she serious. The scariest thing in the entire world? ugh. I would have so called her out on that if I were on the show. And then been eliminated :(

this list was fabulous, I especially enjoyed watching the little clip from The Departed, but I'm a little biased living in Boston

I'm sorry but this sounds like Marion Coutillard all the way...

I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'll assume from the "I'm sorry but..." it was intended as an insult.
However, all I know of Marion Cotillard is her rad Oscars speech, so I'll take it as a compliment. (Unless theres a Marion Coutillard I'm unaware of)

i always found the moment where ursula was like, "...you've got your face...your pretty smile...and not to mention, BODY LANGUAGE"...awkward, oh god. lol

great post!

No, it was not an insult my dear...it was purely the constatation of the basic fact that your post title is taken from her Oscar acceptance speech, which is not that serious but still reflects the lack of ideas your suffer from.

Yes, MJ would still be a big star had he not become so damn freakish! This is what makes me so sad about him. All that genius/talent wasted away...

GIMME SHELTER! THE STONES! AMAZING SONG DARLING! YES YES!

I loved MJ's whole Thriller album back in the day, haven't heard it for ages and ages. I remember how much we all loved the Thriller video when it first came out.

I'm a huge fan of Thomas O'Malley, and I also love Cruella D'ville. Poor Unfortunate Souls was a fav of my son last summer, which was funny becuase he was only 3 and hadn't seen the movie. What about "Femininity?" That song cracks me up, and I love the way it's sung. The Jonas Bros should do that one in drag, but I would rather have somebody who doesn't suck do it. Ever since I heard them do "I Wanna Be Like You" I have had a powerful loathing for those boys. But guess what was on my daughter's cd player a minute ago?

btw, the ink is jrrt--the initials of my favorite author.
