now that's what i call OVERKILL

I love movies where a bunch of strangers end up in an old mansion under mysterious circumstances (usually lured for a dinner party by an anonymous threatening letter), find themselves locked in and are slowly killed off one by one. Even more, I love movies that parody such movies.

Ten Little Indians (1965)

Based on the classic book by Agatha Christie, this one probably set the standard. Though the ending is different, and slightly less awesome, I think, than the original, this movie is still tons of fun and has a very 60's feel.
Body Count: 8

Clue: The Movie (1985)
Who among us has not enjoyed the board game Clue? This dark comedy takes the wellknown characters, rooms and weapons, throws in a stupendously entertaining Tim Curry as butler Wadsworth, gives the option of three separate endings and comes out with a masterpiece.
Body Count: 7

Murder by Death (1976)
Starring the incomparable Peter Sellers, and featuring an unspeakably awesome cameo by Truman Capote, this is just brilliant.. As you can imagine with Peter Sellers as the star, this is a witty spoof, and absurdly fun.
Body Count: "Yes...killed good weekend"

So, if you can't find anything to do on Halloween, a Dinner-Party-Gone-Awry Movie Marathon might be in order? Yes, I think so. Just make sure you're not in a big, old, spooky house

Great choices in movies. I've got a few parties I can choose from on Halloween. One is actually in a really old home that my buddy inherited from his great-grandmother. I'm not sure if that would be the best party to attend. Sounds like the one that some killer would strike at. lol

ten little indians was my first agatha christie novel. very yes. such movies and books have ambience of a time gone by, and I love them for it.

I've been meaning to watch Clue: The Movie for about a million years. I really should get it sorted out for Halloween!

PS. Oh yes I LOVE forever changes - I was playing it all day yesterday! The slight Manson family connection is pretty interesting too :)

Yes...I wish I was in the US right now, and I would netflix them and sit at home and eat a bag of candy. But in sweden, I can't do either of those things. You're so witty. Also, why is it so entertainng to watch people die?

That is a great idea; I hope I can convince my best mates to ditch the cheesy horror flicks in favour of these ones this year.

I notice a few of your interests are similar to mine, many are quite different, but nevertheless, I really enjoyed this blog. Have you gotten into any old-skool progressive rock yet? (Like Yes or King Crimson.) I'm sure Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd will really suit you.
