a little philosophical schooling, if you please

Once upon a time, an old farmer lost his best stallion. His neighbor came around that evening to express his condolences, but the old farmer just said "Who knows what is good and what is bad?" The next day, the stallion returned bringing with him three wild mares. The neighbor rushed around to celebrate but the old farmer simply said "Who knows what is good and what is bad?" The following day, the farmer's son fell from one of the wild mares and broke his leg. The neighbor turned up to make sure all was well, but the old farmer said "Who knows what is good and what is bad?" The next day, the army came to conscript the farmer's son to go and fight in the wars, but finding him invalid, let him with his father. The neighbor thought to himself "Who knows what is good and what is bad?"

But what you're really wondering is: what does the fascinating story have to do with Alice in Wonderland?
Nothing, really. Who doesn't love a little Alice mixed into their revelation?
I just love that story, it puts such a great perspective on good and bad situations.

So the latest Rolling Stone, fairly predictably, has a tribute to James Brown.
I definitely have respect for James Brown as an artist and innovator, but his personal actions are pretty atrocious to me. I don't have a lot of appreciation for a wife-beater, no matter how much he influenced my darling Prince.

I talked the most with Bedouin Soundclash. A bit with Feist, I had no paper, so she signed the receipt from my shampoo and she told me my hair looked healthy, that was amazing. My friends and I also have our picture with her, but of course her face has a streak of light shining through and you can't exactly see it but we kinow that it's her.

haha, did you know that the creator of alice in wonderland also had some love for opium? that explains why the story is so wack, with cards dancing around and everything..
