dancing days are here again, as the summer evenings grow

Sometimes I think the air that I breathe is laced with a chemical called "luck", or something along those lines. I just can't think of a human being alive more naturally fortunate than I. I'll start at the beginning.
Yesterday was my birthday, which in itself was great. I'm the type of person who feels so special for every minute of my birthday. I was woken up at 8:30 by Nicola and Michele coming into my room, where we proceeded to lie in bed, listening to Led Zeppelin. Then we went for a bike ride and got some nice, greasy breakfast at an all-day breakfast joint (aren't the best breakfasts always from an all-day breakfast place?). We did a little thrifting and I found an LP by a band I'd never heard of called The Love Machine. I bought it just because it was called Electric Music to Blow Your Mind By. Then I went home to be showered in presents by my family. I got Black Mountain's double LP In the Future, which Nicola and I listened to in its entirity today and absolutely worshipped. The sleeve alone was worth the price (even though I didn't buy it myself).
My sister got me Fat Albert on DVD, which was amazing.
I got various other lovely trinkets and then I happened upon my final birthday present, two sheets of paper, wrapped in a bow.
I unrolled them and looked at them for a moment. My mind really comprehend what the paper was trying to tell me, so I simply said, "No." And then I burst into tears and bawled for ten minutes.
Luckily, they were tears of joy, for you see, my friends, what the papers were were two tickets to see George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic.
Yes, I'm not joking. I am going to see George Clinton, a.k.a. God, and his band of Merry Funkateers in less than one month. It still hasn't fully hit me. I don't know if there is a God (besides George Clinton) but if there is, I suspect he's a little sweet on me.
Now's for the bad news. I am going away for most of the summer, so my postings will be sporadic at best and nonexistant at worst. I'm not stoked about it, but I'm seeing Parliament-Funkadelic, so I've got nothing to complain about.
Have a fantastic summer, kittens, I know I will.
I hope you were comforted by me calling you by a pet name.
Good day.

I was actually "gaping, open mouthed" when I read about your tickets. I still have that funny feeling in my throat, from amazement and sickening jealousy. LUCKY, LUCKY, LUCKY! And I'm glad your birthday was one for the books.

good, i'm glad you got it figured out...no, i wanted to write about somebody who wanted to at least get her sex life worked out before it ever happened, and her boyfriend went with her...I did have a friend who dyed her hair pink the last month she was pregnant because she was going to have a girl. Now they think something is wrong with the baby.

that album is sssooo good.
i hate to ask this, but it's kinda crappy when people go on the blog list and visit an abandoned blog... lol; i know i hate it. if you wouldn't mind, could you switch my blog (live.speak.breathe.fashion) to not so prim and proper located at www.kristinPRIM.co.nr?
i know, this is kinda rude/weird, but i would hate for people to visit an abandoned blog.
thanks so much!! if you're interested, i could link you up at my new one. let me know!!

Molly! I've been wrapped up in my own world, obsessing over such things as So You Think You Can Dance, and thoroughly enjoying my summer. It just hit me that I hadn't been to ashcan rantings in more than a month. So I'm like OMG, I must see what my favorite artsy funkster Molly has been up to.

Then I see your last post...first of all happy belated. Secondly, not only is God sweet on you but I am too (and clearly hundreds, prolly thousands of others). You deserved those GC tixs as well as everything else you got for your birthday. Goodness comes to those who give goodness, and even only knowing you through your blog Molly, you glow in good energy. More than good. Great.

I really can't wait to find out where you've been this summer. I know you are off somewhere fabulous having a most amazing experience adding to your eclectic sense of style and living.

Lucky you!

i'm feeling your style, and i love your picture at the top of your blog
